Section 200 regulates the place of trial where an act is an offence by reason of its relation to any other act which is also an offence, permitting trial in either jurisdiction.

  • Related Offences: Abetment, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property, or harbouring offenders.
  • Inter-Connected Venues: Primary offence committed in Area A; abetment or harbouring executed in Area B.
  • Concurrent Trial Venue: May be inquired into or tried by a court within whose local jurisdiction either act was done.
Key Landmark Precedents:
  • State of T.N. v. Nalini (1999) 5 SCC 253: The Supreme Court affirmed that conspirators and harbourers can be tried jointly with the principal perpetrators in the court where the primary assassination or terror attack took place.
  • Trimbak v. State of M.P. AIR 1954 SC 39: Held that a receiver of stolen property may be tried either where the theft occurred or where the stolen property was dishonestly received.
